Indian skipper Virat Kohli on Thursday interacted with the media ahead of the first ODI against Australia starting November 27. Kohli gave an insight into how team management is working on the workload of some players during the Australian tour.

One such player is pacer Jasprit Bumrah who is of paramount importance to the Indian team. The selectors have named him in all the three formats for the series. The pacer is one of the most elemental figures in the Indian squad. And so, he will spearhead the Indian pace attack along with Mohammad Shami.

With Ishant Sharma ruled out of the Border Gavaskar trophy, the duo will have heavy workload to share with each other.

Kohli said that both the bowlers will be rotated during the limited-overs series. The limited-over series comprises of three T20Is and as many ODIs.

“It’s a no-brainer. They have gone through a full IPL. It will be important to monitor their workload,” Kohli said.

“You want to see how people react to different situations. There is a fine balance that you need to maintain, something we have managed to do for the last few years,” Kohli said.

“That is why our bowlers have been fit and available for the important matches most of the times for us. It is an important factor for me as a captain. It is going to be crucial.” he added.

India and Australia will square off for the first ODI starting November 27 at Sydney Cricket Ground, followed by 2nd and 3rd ODIs on 29th and December 2 respectively.

Virat Kohli will play in the T20Is and ODI series and the first Test match at Adelaide before going on paternity leave and returning to India. Also, Batsman Rohit Sharma couldn’t make it to the Australian tour, and there is no certainty that he will play in the Test series.
