Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been adding accolades ever since he has taken over the captaincy of the national teamacross all formats. His sweet-bitter rivalry with the Australian team has even garnered him massive fan-base from both the nations.
After losing the ODI series last week, the Indian skipper bounced back by leading his team to an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the T20I series. The Indian team showed grit during the second T20I and won the last over thriller after the heroics from Hardik Pandya.
Virat Kohli also established himself as a dominating run in the T20I format with a nine-match winning streak since last year.
The 32-year-old also became the second skipper after Faf du Plessis to have registered series win in Australia across all formats. Moreover, he also became the first Indian skipper to win the T20I series in South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia – SENA countries.
It was under his captaincy when India registered Test series win against Australia in 2018, followed by the ODI series win in January 2019. At that time the T20I series was tied 1-1- with the second T20I getting washed off.
This tour saw Indian team winning the T20I series and now Kohli has yet another record under his sleeve. India and Australia are yet to face each other in the final T20I at Sydney Cricket Ground on December 8.
Kohli will lead India in the first Test at Adelaide starting December 17 before heading back to India on paternity leave. His deputy Ajinkya Rahane is expected to handle the responsibility of the team on his absence.
