Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag, who is known for causing catastrophe into the opponents’ bowling turns 41 today. Virender Sehwag has been one of the most successful and attacking batsmen India has ever produced.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) congratulated the former batsman on his 41st birthday highlighting his accolades in their tweet.

Cricket Australia wished the destructive batsman mentioning the catastrophe he caused at the Boxing Day Test in 2003. He blasted 195 against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground which is his highest score on the Australian pitch.

Suresh Raina also wished the 41-year-old on his birthday “Happy birthday viru bhai @virendersehwag My big brother, always inspired me & guided through various paths of life. Wishing you nothing but the best always. Have an amazing day paji,” he wrote on Twitter.

Sehwag made his ODI debut for India against Pakistan in 1999, followed by the Test debut against South Africa in 2001. He is the only Indian batsman to score triple century twice in his career and also the second Indian batsman to score a double century in ODIs.

In his career spanning for 14 years, he scored 8586 runs in 104 at an average of 49.34 in Tests and 8273 runs in 251 ODI matches.

Besides, he was also named the ICC Test of the year in 2010 for his terrific show in that year by amassing 1,282 runs in 10 Test matches, including six centuries.

He was also a part of the world cup winning team in 2007 and 2011 under MS Dhoni’s leadership.
