Brisbane Heat notched a formidable 179-run total in a do-or-die clash after batting first. D Wyatt gave the team a stellar start despite wickets falling at the other end. She made 52 runs in just 38 balls, a knock which was laced with 6 fours and 2 sixes.
Hobart Hurricanes, however, kept picking wickets at the other end. At the end of 10 overs, Brisbane Heat had managed 81 runs for the loss of four wickets.
But Laura Harris looked in a destructive mood as she played an outstanding knock of 44 runs in just 14 balls to give the team much-needed impetus in the second half of the innings.
Later, unbeaten cameos from Charli Knott (23 off 16) and Nicola Hancock (15 off 9) meant the Brisbane Heat managed to reach a competitive score on the board.
For Hobart Hurricanes, Amy Smith picked three wickets for just 21 runs in 4 overs.
The Hurricanes made a good-looking start to the run-chase as Lee and Villani added 61 runs for the opening wicket. The latter, unfortunately, got run out and it allowed Brisbane Heat to come back into the game.
