WBBL: Hobart Hurricanes has re-signed prolific South African batter Mignon du Preez for the upcoming edition of Women’s Big Bash League. The upcoming edition of Big Bash League will witness significant changes and a delayed start.
Mignon du Preez had been an indigenous part of the Hobart Hurricanes in the previous season. Preez was the leading run scorer in the 2021-22 edition where she amassed 414 runs at an average of 31.84 and a strike rate of 115.
Mignon du Preez will make a comeback for the Hurricanes alongside her Proteas teammate Lizelle Lee who had withdrawn from the franchise in the last season. Preez and Lee had previously represented Melbourne Stars together in 2019.
Notably, Hobart Hurricanes has assigned Elyse Villani as the new skipper for the franchise. Preez and Villani had also made a stint for Melbourne Stars previously.
Speaking to the media, Mignon du Preez said that she is really delighted to be a part of the Hobart Hurricanes once again. She added that she loves to be in Australia and the Big Bash League is a favourite part of her cricketing career.
Preez was also questioned about the inclusion of Lee and Villian. Responding to the media, Preez said that she has been great friends with Lee and Villian, both on and off the field and she is really looking for a fruitful season alongside her counterparts.
Meanwhile, Hobart Hurricanes will also enjoy the services of Amy Smith, Nicola Carey, Maisy Gibson and Ruth Johnston. Hobart Hurricanes had a miserable season in 2021-22 and will be aiming for a fruitful season in the upcoming edition.
