Pakistan’s ODI skipper Babar Azam is gearing up for his first-ever series as the captain when the side clashes with Zimbabwe. Babar Azam spoke on his forthcoming challenge as the skipper as the side enters the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League campaign.
Zimbabwe’s tour of Pakistan will consist of three ODIs and as many T20Is starting with the first ODI game on October 30.
The series will also embark their preparation for the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup (to be held in India) for both the teams. The team that will win the series will gain 30 points and also move up in the points table of the World Cup Super League.
The skipper emphasized on producing aggressive and fearless cricket when they return on the field in the ODI cricket under his leadership.
“To keep up with the modern-day requirements of fast-paced cricket, we need to be super fit,” Babar said.
“As the leaders of the group, both Shadab and I need to set an example with our fitness and commitment. We have a lot of cricket lined up and the only method for us to regain our spot at the top of the rankings is aggressive and fearless cricket,” he added.
Pakistan is currently at the 7th place in the latest ICC ODI team rankings with 85 ratings while Zimbabwe is 10th in the list with just 18 rating.
Babar Azam will get support from the new vice-captain Shadab Khan who echoes the same opinion the skipper has ahead of the series.
