Donavon Ferreira 24 years old is an old cricket player from South Africa. He made his debut in the 2018 Africa T20 Cup. He made his List A debut on 19 October 2019, for Northerns in the 2019–20 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge. He played his first Twenty20 match for Northerns.
He was one of the uncapped homegrown players that sparked a bidding battle on Monday, September 19. At Cape Town, this happened during the auction for Cricket South Africa’s brand-new SA20 tournament.
The young South African hitter entered the auction with a starting price of R 175,000 and received bids from the Paarl Royals and Pretoria Capitals organisations. However, the cricketer ultimately signed with the Joburg Super Kings team, a subsidiary of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He is promised a staggering R 5.5 million after the Royals and Capitals withdrew their initial offers due to a lack of funds.
Given his outstanding start in the shortest format for the Titans, Ferreira was unsurprisingly pretty high in the reckoning among the domestic uncapped South African players. The right-handed batsman has participated in 19 domestic T20 matches to date, accumulating 384 runs with a strike rate of 148.26.
Donavon Ferreira from the “factory of brilliant cricketers”
Donavon Ferreira is a promising young batsman from South Africa’s “factory of brilliant cricketers”. He is poised to light up the inaugural SA20 for Joburg Super Kings early next year.
Donavon Ferreira used a strong performance in the CSA’s domestic T20 league for the summer to support his eye-catching Joburg bid at the SA20 auction. Ferreira scored 166 runs at a strike rate of 136.06 in his six CSA T20 Challenge appearances for the Titans.
Ferreira’s cricket career to this point has included a repeating pattern of trying everything in his power to prove himself to the best of his ability. It has now borne fruit with an imminent extended run in the Titans XI following a promising first game.
