Women’s Asia Cup 2022 Final, IND v SL: India v Sri Lanka Preview

India will take on Sri Lanka in the final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2022 on Saturday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. India has been outstanding throughout the tournament.

They won five out of six matches and finished at the number one position after the league stage matches. The only defeat came at the hands of Pakistan, however, they haven’t been able to secure a place in the final.

Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. are coming into this game on the back of three consecutive wins. India defeated Thailand by 74 runs in the semi-final 1 clash. Shafali Varma played a handy knock of 42 runs in 38 balls, while Harmanpreet Kaur chipped in with 36 off 30 balls. As a result, India notched 148 runs in the first innings.

The bowlers then restricted Thailand to just 74 runs. Deepti Sharma starred with the ball, returning with bowling figures of 3 for 7 in 4 overs. Overall, Rodrigues has scored the most runs for the team. In 7 matches, she has managed to score 215 runs at 71.67. Deepti Sharma has the most wickets with 12 wickets to her name at 8.67.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka is coming into this game on the back of a stunning 1-run win over Pakistan in the semi-final 2. Sri Lanka posted a modest score of 122 runs in the first innings. Madavi top-scored with 35 off 41 balls.

Despite posting a below-par score, Sri Lanka held their nerves and took the game till the very last over. Needing 9 runs in the final over, A Kulasuriya gave away only 7 runs to win the game by just 1 run, eventually.

I Ranaweera was the pick of the bowlers as she picked 2 wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs. Harshitha Madavi is the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament, managing 201 runs in 7 matches at 71.65. She will be one of the players to watch out for.
