The Hundred Women’s 2022: As many as seven players from the Australian team which won the recent ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 have been signed in The Hundred draft on Tuesday. Australian skipper, Meg Lanning is one of the top players on the list to be included in the draft. Besides, the other players include the likes of Beth Mooney, Rachel Haynes, Tahlia McGrath, Alana King, Megan Schutt, and Annabel Sutherland.
It is worth mentioning that 11 players from Australia pulled out of the tournament last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. New Zealand players such as Amy Satterthwaite and Amelia Kerr have been included in the draft. Besides, South Africa’s Mignon du Preez and West Indies’ Deandra Dottin also make the cut.
The player of the tournament in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022, Alyssa Healy has been retained by the Northern Superchargers. Tammy Beaumont will captain Welsh Fire this year. She will also have the company of Fran Wilson, Alex Hartley, Fi Morris, and Sarah Bryce. Her fellow opener, Lauren Winfield Hill has moved from Northern Superchargers to Oval Invincibles.
Sanjay Patel, the Managing Director of The Hundred, said, “With a host of star players confirmed, The Hundred will have fans on the edge of their seats with world-class sport, as well as bringing more family-friendly entertainment off the pitch. In the women’s competition, we have the best players from across the world taking part including Meg Lanning, Beth Mooney and Sophie Devine and we are confident we will set a new benchmark for the women’s domestic game.”
