Zimbabwe survived a tough scare against Jersey in their second pool-stage game at the Queens Club to book a ticket to the T20 World Cup Qualifier semifinals. Zimbabwe defended a mere score of 146-8 and won the match by 23 runs.

Debutants USA too stormed into the semifinals for the first time as they join Zimbabwe at the top two positions in Group B. USA overpowered Singapore in their last match to stand a chance to qualify for the 2022 T-20 World Cup in Australia.

Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat first against Jersey. After a destructive bowling performance by Jersey, Zimbabwe lost early wickets before Sean Williams and Luke Jongwe came to the rescue. Williams scored a brilliant knock of 57 runs of 39 balls whereas Jongwe supported him with some late hitting.

Jersey displayed stiff resistance against Zimbabwe but fell short of 23 runs as the frontline bowlers displayed a marvellous performance to restrict the opponent.

Meanwhile, the USA shattered the hopes of Singapore to seal their playoff berth. Batting first, the USA recorded a mammoth total of 201 runs owing to stunning performances of Steven Taylor and J Malhotra. The hosts bundled out Singapore for a mere total of 69 runs to record a massive victory.

With a paramount victory and increase in net run rate, the USA has pipped down Zimbabwe to the second position. The eventual winner of Group A will face the two stalwarts of Group B on Thursday to book a ticket into the finals.

In Group A, Netherlands and Uganda are the frontrunners to seal a semifinal berth. In an interesting battle on Wednesday, it will be clear that who will face USA and Zimbabwe. The finalists of the Qualifiers will play in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 which is scheduled to take place in Australia in October 2022.
