Zimbabwe Cricket announced the 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 on Thursday. Key players such as Craig Ervine, Tendai Chatara, Wellington Masakadza, and Milton Shumba have all recovered from their respective injuries and made their way into the World Cup squad. Their presence makes them a formidable side for the big event.
Blessing Muzarabani, who has been one of the most exciting prospects in the team, has also recovered fully and should lead the bowling attack.
Craig Ervine will lead the side. As for the reserves, Zimbabwe has picked as many as five players such as Chivanga Tanaka, Kaia Innocent, Kasuza Kevin, Marumani Tadiwanashe, and Nyauchi Victor.
Zimbabwe will start their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign in their Round 1 clash against Ireland at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart, Tasmania. Those who finish in the top two from Group A will go to the Super 12 round.
The top two teams of both groups will progress and play the Super 12 round. Zimbabwe has been placed in the Group B of the qualifying round alongside teams like Ireland, Scotland and West Indies. Before that, they will also be playing warm-up matches against Sri Lanka and Namibia on the 10th and 13th of October respectively.
Zimbabwe will begin their campaign on 17th October 2022 at Bellerive Oval in Hobart, Tasmania.
