Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh: Regis Chakabva will lead Zimbabwe in the three-match one-day international (ODI) series against Bangladesh, with skipper Craig Ervine sitting out to completely recover from hamstring and knee niggles.
The hosts will also be without all-rounder Sean Williams, who has been given leave by Zimbabwe Cricket to attend to personal concerns. Takudzwanashe Kaitano and Tarisai Musakanda have been called up to replace the experienced partnership for the ODI series.
It will be Chakabva’s first instance leading the team since his debut for the side in 2008. “It is an honour, one that I will definitely cherish,” Chakabva said. “I am a cool, calm guy so I will try to be myself as I always am. A bit unfortunate to lose Craig, who I have learned a lot from. I don’t think I will do anything different from my normal character. I will try to rally the guys.”
The rest of Zimbabwe’s 15-man squad competed in the recently concluded Twenty20 international series against Bangladesh, which the home team won by a score of two victories to one.
The first ODI will take place on Friday followed by the second ODI on Sunday. The two teams will lock horns in the third and the final ODI on Wednesday. All the matches are hosted at the Harare Sports Club.
Squad: Regis Chakabva (C), Ryan Burl, Bradley Evans, Luke Jongwe, Innocent Kaia, Takudzwanashe Kaitano, Wesley Madhevere, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wellington Masakadza, Tony Munyonga, Tarisai Musakanda, Richard Ngarava, Victor Nyauchi, Sikandar Raza, Milton Shumba
